🌟 QUICK WIN OF THE WEEK

When stuck, ask: "What's the smallest decision I can make right now?"

Big decisions can quickly turn into analysis paralysis, but small decisions create momentum.

For example, instead of trying to decide if you should completely redesign a system or process, just decide on one thing you can improve this week.

We often think decisions come before actions, but decisions usually become much easier after we take a few small steps forward.

πŸ’¬ REAL-WORLD SCENARIO

"I have three paths forward and can't pick one."

We're easily tempted to collect as much information as possible about all three paths because we think that will help us make the best decision. But we're usually tricking ourselves into thinking more information will solve our problem when the real problem is we're afraid we'll make the wrong choice. And while being knowledgeable about all three paths is important, we need to know when it's time to start moving forward even when we still feel that very human fear of failure.

Next time you're feeling that fear, but know deep down you have all the information you need, try the "Two-Week Test": Pick one path and fully commit to it for two weeks. Then check in with yourself or your team and decide what adjustments you might want to make for the next two weeks.

You might get some pushback from yourself or other people you're working with because "what if those two weeks are wasted work." That's where it's time to be honest about the value of analyzing all three paths for two more weeks versus getting some real data about what might or might not work.

You can always pivot. You can't recover lost time.

βš™οΈ MINI FRAMEWORK

The 3 Questions that Unstick Any Decision

1️⃣ What do we know for sure? (Separate facts from assumptions)
2️⃣ What's the cost of waiting? (Sometimes indecision is the most expensive choice and other times we realize there's no cost at all, so we decide to put the project on the back burner)
3️⃣ What can we test quickly? (Back to those baby steps that pay off big in the long run)

When you're stuck, you don't need all the answers. You just need the next step.

πŸ€” QUESTION OF THE WEEK

What's one decision you can commit to trying for the next two weeks?
