π QUICK WIN OF THE WEEK
Check your evidence, not your emotions.
ββ
When you're deciding whether to pivot or persist, separate what you feel from what you know.
β
Ask: "What data do I have that this is or isn't working?"
β
Emotions tell you something matters. Evidence tells you what to do about it.
π¬ REAL-WORLD SCENARIO
"We've invested so much already. How do I know if we should keep going?"β
β
This is the sunk cost fallacy talking. The time, money, or energy you've already spent isn't a reason to continue. It's just history.
β
The real question is: "Based on what we know now, is this still the right path forward?"
β
If the answer is no, the time, money, and energy you've already spent are irrelevant. Try to look at them as valuable lessons and data points rather than wasted resources. This allows you to respect what you've learned while choosing a smarter direction. If the answer is yes, but it's just hard right now, that's when you push through.
βοΈ MINI FRAMEWORK
The Pivot vs. Push Through Guide
β
Push through when:
- The goal is still aligned with your priorities
- You're facing temporary obstacles, not immovable road blocks
- You have evidence of progress (even if it's slow)
- You still have energy and belief in the outcome
Pivot when:
- The original goal no longer serves your actual needs
- Every solution creates three new problems
- You're repeating the same failed approach hoping for different results
- Your gut is screaming that something is fundamentally wrong
β
Still not sure? Try a two-week test: commit fully to the current approach for two weeks, then reassess with fresh eyes.
π€ QUESTION OF THE WEEK
What's one project where you wish you had pivoted sooner, or pushed through longer? Why? Use that information to help you make your next pivot vs push through decision.
