The parts of your week you've stopped questioning

Become the person everyone wants to work with, including you!

🌟 QUICK WIN OF THE WEEK

Think of the moment this week that irritated you most. The small one, not the crisis.

Then ask one question about it: “have I ever actually tried to change how this works?”

Usually the answer is no. We adapt to friction instead of removing it, and after enough years we stop seeing it at all.

💬 REAL-WORLD SCENARIO

“I don’t know why I’m so tired. Nothing big is going on.”

I hear this constantly, and the second part is almost always true. Nothing big is going on.

Which is exactly what makes it so disorienting.

During a crisis, being wiped out makes sense. In an ordinary week you assume you should be coping fine, so when you’re not, you go looking for the flaw in yourself.

Here is what is usually going on instead. You’re carrying twenty small inefficiencies, and each one costs you a few minutes plus a little thinking:

  • Deciding dinner at 6pm, when everyone is already hungry
  • Checking three places to find the same piece of information
  • Reminding somebody about a thing that is genuinely theirs to remember

Not one of those is worth complaining about on its own. Added together, they are most of your week.

And because you have done them this way for years, they stopped registering as things that could be different. They just feel like life.

⚙️ MINI FRAMEWORK

Find the Friction

1️⃣ Pick one area, not your whole life (dinner, email, mornings, one meeting that repeats)

2️⃣ Write down every step it really takes, including the deciding and the remembering

3️⃣ Circle anything you do more than once, or anything that only works because you remembered it

4️⃣ Change one circled thing this week. One.

The circles are where your energy has been going. They are also the cheapest things to fix, because a step that repeats only has to be fixed once.

🤔 QUESTION OF THE WEEK

What is one thing you do every single week that you have never once stopped to redesign?

WANT MORE HELP?

This is the whole idea behind something I just built: The Simplification Check.

It walks you through six areas of ordinary life, the ones that quietly eat your week: food, home, money, digital, commitments, and mental load. There is a work version too, covering projects, meetings, messages, repeated work, decisions, and tools.

You tick anything that sounds like your life and skip the rest. No writing, no soul searching, about three minutes. It is built on recognition rather than reflection, because you already know where it hurts.

Then it hands back five things worth changing, in order, starting with the one that buys you back the most. Every fix is written out in steps, so you are not left holding a diagnosis with nothing to do about it.

The check itself is free. The finished plan is $5, one time, no account and no subscription. If you already use Clear Days it is included, so sign in first and it unlocks on its own.

And if you do use Clear Days, the fixes can go straight onto your plan, each one with its own date, so the changes land on real days instead of staying a nice list you read once.

You are not disorganized. Some of your week is just harder than it has any need to be.

See you in two weeks,
